Maddie's Diary

 One mise-en-scene element me and my group want to include and focus on, is Maddie’s diary. Her diary represents her outlet to let all her emotions go and express her feelings freely. We wanted to make the diary kind of run down and loved. Since Maddie writes on it so much, as it’s basically her only friend, the pages are filled with happiness, sadness, and frustration. We’re going to write in the diary about happy memories at first, and as the diary goes on, there’s going to be darker, more depressing thoughts. This is to emphasize how her life started crumbling down little by little and how she got to the point of being suicidal. 

The diary itself is going to be warm toned to contrast the coolness of Maddie’s environment. This is to symbolize how her diary is essentially her lifeline, the one good thing she has left in her life. It’s more likely going to be red to make it stand out and emphasize the diary’s significance.
