Hello Cambridge! From now on, my blogs are going to be about my coming-of-age drama for my Cambridge Final Project! The posts from before this one have helped me learn key elements that will help contribute to making a meaningful and engaging movie.
When I first heard that the final for this class was a film opening, I already knew exactly what I wanted it to be about. I wanted my film to be meaningful and be about the struggles of high school.
To achieve this, my teacher introduced us to the different techniques of film openings. There were many approaches but the one I’m considering the most is developing character. I like this approach because it needs a lot of creativity, giving me the freedom to develop my characters in a way that feels authentic. Developing character relies heavily on costume design and dialogue to bring the characters to life.
Another reason why I like this approach is because it allows me to explore the character’s environment and relationships, adding depth to the story. The audience will get to know the characters where they feel relatable and complex.
